Dr. Baker’s theme for the day is “Navigating the Currents of 21st-Century Chaplaincy.” There will be three sessions geared toward the work of chaplains:
Session 1: “Vessel at Sea”
Session 2: “Charting the Course”
Session 3: “Standing the Watch”
Alan T. “Blues” Baker is an educator, author, consultant and coach. He is an experienced chaplain who communicates the value of chaplaincy through a ministry of presence. Rev. Dr. Baker also serves as a faith group supervisor of chaplain ministries. In this role, he endorses chaplains in health care, industrial, corporate, military, university, public safety and correctional organizations. With extensive background in education, chaplaincy and organizational development, he has over twenty years of international leadership in complex organizations. His public service culminated in the Presidential nomination and Senate appointment to Rear Admiral. Dr. Baker is the only graduate of Annapolis promoted to this rank as a chaplain. His widely read book, Foundations of Chaplaincy: A Practical Guide, was released by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company in February 2021. Alan received a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science degree from Annapolis.
