Dr. Alan “Blues” Baker – Chaplain Connect

April 21, 2026 – 9 a.m.-3 p.m Dr. Baker’s theme for the day is “Navigating the Currents of 21st-Century Chaplaincy.” There will be three sessions geared toward the work of chaplains: Session 1: “Vessel at Sea” Session 2: “Charting the Course” Session 3: “Standing the Watch” Alan T. “Blues” Baker is an educator, author, consultant and coach. He is an experienced chaplain who communicates the value of chaplaincy through a ministry of presence. Rev. Dr. Baker also serves as a faith group supervisor of chaplain ministries. In this role, he endorses chaplains in health care, industrial, corporate, military, university, public safety and correctional organizations. Jaclyn Williams and Mary Glenn are returning to Pella to provide follow-up to their “The Power of Presence” seminar in 2023! Both speakers are faculty members at Fuller Theological Seminary and are co-chairs of the MA in Chaplaincy degree program at the seminary.

John Walton – Reading the Bible Better

October 14-15, 2024 – “Reading the Bible Better: Ancient Scripture for Post-Modern Readers” – John H. Walton (Ph.D. Hebrew Union College) is a Professor of Old Testament Emeritus at Wheaton College and Graduate School where he taught for twenty-two years. His areas of expertise include the importance of the ancient Near East for interpreting the Old Testament as well as the dialogue between science and faith.
